National Camping And Caravanning Week

According to the results of a significant new study, camping is proven to make people happier.

The week, which takes place from May 29 to June 4, is organised by The Camping and Caravanning Club.

The Outjoyment Report, commissioned by the Club and conducted by a group of academics from Sheffield Hallam University and Liverpool John Moores University, examined the advantages of camping among nature for one’s health and well-being.

Their discoveries concluded that:

  • 48% of campers reported feeling happy almost every day, compared to 35% of non-campers, and 97% of campers said happiness was their primary reason for going camping.
  • 93% of campers report that they enjoy being in nature, which is their second most important motivation after happiness.
  • Outdoor activities are taken part in by 98% of campers. 91% of people walk, 39% cycle, and 26% like to watch birds.
  • 88% of campers go camping to escape their busy lives and experience higher levels of psychological well-being than non-campers do.

Throughout National Camping and Caravanning Week, the Club will host special outdoor experiences at city centre locations throughout the UK by creating immersive campsite settings in urban environments. This will honour the hobby and focus on the significance of the report’s conclusions.

With the ongoing glorious weather, why not pack up the car and get outside in the great outdoors?
