When we wash our clothes, we think they are clean and safe to wear. But did you know, washing your clothes in the washing machine with detergent alone does not kill all bacteria. In most cases the bacteria can survive wash after wash, collecting on all your ‘clean’ clothes.
Dr Pixie McKenna explains in the video below.

Many of us are switching our washing machine cycles to eco friendly mode, saving time and money by washing at a lower temperature. Unfortunately, many of us aren’t aware that bacteria on our clothes can survive temperatures up to 90°C. When we put our clothes in the machine, it creates the perfect breeding conditions and can spread from one item to another.

A study sponsored by Dettol, took swabs of over 100 items of laundry. The results have shown that clothing washed in an eco friendly 40° wash, were actually only 14% cleaner than they were before being put in the machine. On samples taken from the clean clothes, 1 in 4 items contained bacteria linked to faeces!

So how do we make sure our kitchen towels that we clean our kitchen work surfaces with are free from bacteria linked to faeces?

Adding a capful of Dettol Antibacterial Laundry Cleanser to your wash to kill 99.9% of bacteria, so that you can be confident that your laundry is hygienically clean every time, whatever temperature you wash at (proven to work in rinse cycle temperatures as low as 15°C).

Your favourite laundry detergent will clean the washing, removing stains, dirt and making them smell clean, while the Laundry Cleanser will sanitize them, leaving you with clean clothes, every time!

We also recommend you do a 90°c wash at least once a month and also to clean the rubber seal thoroughly with white vinegar.
