Home Hardware is delighted to be supporting this year’s National Home Security Month (NHSM) – an annual campaign from leading UK security specialist, Yale.

First launched in 2013, taking place every October since, the aim of NHSM is to raise awareness of home security and the importance of taking precautions to protect your home.

The campaign runs throughout the month and coincides with the start of the autumn when the nights start to draw in and the clocks go back an hour.

In 2018, it was reported that seven homes in the UK were burgled every minute over the course of a year*, with burglaries more likely to involve forced entry into unoccupied houses during the autumn/winter months.** Yet, surprisingly, 28% of UK adults still admit to taking no security precautions at home, leaving their property and loved ones vulnerable**.

In response, NHSM 2020 will be serving up seasonal tips and advice, as well as highlighting a different element of home security each week of the campaign, to let homeowners know how they can reduce their risk of being targeted by burglars.

Everything from smart technology to the importance of having a secure front door and Neighbourhood Watch schemes will be covered.

As part of NHSM 2020 Home Hardware are running a facebook competition to win a Status Smart Bundle, including a GLS BC Smart Warm White Wifi LED Bulb, a Candle SES Smart Colour Changing Temperature Wifi LED Bulb and a Smart Wifi Plug Adaptor. This is the perfect starter pack to making your home smarter and safer by allowing you to control the lighting from your phone, from absolutely anywhere! You can also schedule your lighting to automatically turn On & Off at
different times to give the appearance of activity, in and around the home. You can even pair them to your amazon alexa or google assistant for simple voice control. Working through your home wireless network, there is no hub or subscription required.

So don’t delay, head on over to your local store’s facebook page and enter today! But don’t worry if you don’t win, you can still purchase these fantastic products from your local Home Hardware store and be on your way to a safer, smarter home.
